President's report - November 2025

Reflecting on 2025

As we approach the close of 2025, I want to extend my sincere thanks to each of you for your guidance, support, and contributions to CCAV throughout the year. Running an association is never without its challenges but having a proactive and collaborative team makes all the difference. Your commitment has been invaluable. That said, the end of the year does not mark the end of our work. CCAV continues to progress on several important initiatives, and there is much more ahead to keep us engaged.

Pet Interment Regulation Changes

Recent regulatory changes now allow pet interments within our cemeteries. While this remains an individual choice, our members rely on us to provide accurate and timely information. Over the coming months—particularly in an election year—it will be interesting to see whether further details emerge to guide decision-making, including fee structures, interment depth, and process requirements.

Growth of In-Conversation Sessions

The continued success of our In-Conversation sessions is a credit to all of you. Your dedication to attending, facilitating, and contributing has made this program a stand out achievement. We look forward to building on this momentum in 2026 and further developing these valuable member events.

AGM Success

Our recent Annual General Meeting was a resounding success, bringing members together to celebrate our purpose and achievements. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and planning for the 2026 AGM will commence shortly.

Emerging Opportunities and Issues

Looking ahead, key priorities include:

  • Exploring the introduction of a new CCAV award.

  • Reviewing the structure of GraveSafe training and its link to revenue opportunities.

Continuing preparations for the 2026 Conference.

Additionally, we have a meeting scheduled in December with the Department to discuss fee-setting processes for Class B cemeteries—a conversation that promises to be productive.

Thank You for 2025

As we wrap up the year, I’ll keep this brief: I would also like to acknowledge Danielle and Karen for again volunteering to continue to work with us by continuing in their previous roles, and welcome Susan as a new committee member.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge Norelle, whose tireless efforts keep everything running smoothly, ensuring tasks are completed and keeping me on track. Thank you, Norelle. What you do for CCAV, for our members, and for the industry is nothing short of exceptional. Your ideas and input continue to transform a good association into a great one.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The year ahead presents exciting opportunities for growth, collaboration, and innovation. Together, we will continue to strengthen CCAV’s role as a trusted voice in the industry and deliver value to our members. Thank you once again for your dedication and commitment.

Here’s to a successful and rewarding 2026!
